On Monday the Washington Nationals had X-rays taken on the right thumb of third baseman Ryan Zimmerman. The results showed that Zimmerman’s fractured right thumb\u00a0still had some healing to do.<\/p>\n

Nationals manager Matt Williams did not give any indication of when Zimmerman could return to the lineup.<\/p>\n

“It’s hard to say. Everybody is different. Everybody heals differently. It was an interesting fracture. It wasn’t just a crack straight across. It was kind of like a Y. So there are multiple things that have to heal there. Yeah, we would like it to go faster, but it is what it is.”<\/p>\n

It has been five weeks since Zimmerman fractured his thumb in an April 13 game against the Atlanta Braves. He will have his thumb placed in a splint but will not be able to throw just yet.<\/p>\n

Before landing on the DL, Zimmerman had appeared in 10 games hitting .364\/.405\/.636 with two home runs and six RBI.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
