He had asked for $1.7 million while the Royals had offered $1.075 million when figures were exchanged recently.<\/p>\n<p>Acquired mid-season from Houston, Maxwell compiled a .252\/.328\/.436 line last season with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 75 games.<\/p>\n<p>There had been some thought earlier this winter that the Royals would trade Maxwell prior to Spring Training.<\/p>\n<p>No financial terms of Maxwell&#8217;s contract have been released.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Kansas City Royals have avoided arbitration with outfielder Justin Maxwell.
