It just seems like it&#8217;s time. It&#8217;s a young man&#8217;s game. I am 40 years old. I am looking forward to doing something else besides baseball. Whatever that may be. I am not sure yet,&#8221; said Helton, via the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/rockies\/ci_24098500\/todd-helton-retire-after-17-seasons-rockies\" target=\"_blank\">Denver Post<\/a>. &#8220;I am going to start a new chapter not only in my life but our lives. It will be different. It will be difficult, but it will be exciting.&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/rockies\/ci_24098500\/todd-helton-retire-after-17-seasons-rockies\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Helton also conceded that it will be tough not playing baseball but says he plans to use his extra time to go hunting and golfing.<\/p>\n<p>While bothered by back problems for the last handful of seasons, Helton is a career \/317\/.415\/.539 hitter with 367 home runs and 1397 RBI.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton will retire at the end of the season.
