Putz has been diagnosed with a sprained ligament, a strained flexor pronator and nerve irritation in his right elbow. All of Putz&#8217;s ailments can be addressed though rehab meaning that the pitcher will not need major surgery on his right elbow.<\/p>\n<p>Putz will attempt to work his way back before the end of the 2013 season.<\/p>\n<p>Heath Bell has assumed the closers role for the Diamondbacks.<\/p>\n<p>In 14 games this season Putz has a 4.26 ERA and 5 saves. Over the past two seasons Putz recorded 77 saves for the Diamondbacks while being one of the leagues better closers.
