Teixeira had not played since September 8 after he aggravated his left calf on a ground out to end a game against Baltimore.<\/p>\n<p>Teixeira played in an instructional league game in Florida on Saturday. He was due to work out Sunday before traveling to New York. He&#8217;ll be checked by a doctor Monday and, if there are no problems, will be cleared to play.<\/p>\n<p>Manager Joe Girardi said on Sunday that he would talk to Teixeira and determine if he would use him as the teams first basemen or at designated hitter.<\/p>\n<p>On the season Teixeria has appeared in 120 games hitting .255\/.336\/.478 with 23 home runs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Yankees will welcome back first basement Mark Teixeira on Monday according to reports.
