Russell Martin is the top catcher on the free agent market and the Pirates backstop from a season ago will be looking to be paid like it.
On Thursday Martin met with the Cubs but he is expected to meet with the Pirates, Dodgers and Blue Jays in the next few days reports CBS Sports. Bruce Levine believes that the deal Brian McCann signed in the fall of 2013 could be used as a framework for a deal for Martin. (Five-years, $75 million)
Martin hit .290/.402/.430 in 111 gamesfor the Pirates in 2014. Martin was also second in the National League in throwing out 39 percent of runners.
