The Philadelphia Phillies have removed the tag ‘interim’ from Ryne Sanderg’s title. Sandberg has been given a three-year extension to remain as the Phillies manager.

Sandberg took over the Phillies on Aug. 16 when the team let go of Charlie Manuel. Prior to taking over the Phillies the team had dropped  19 of 22.

“[Sandberg] is positive. He’s always talking during the game. He’s definitely into the game, and guys respect him for that. He’s given a lot of guys an opportunity to play, which is nice. So far he’s done a great job,” Phillies second baseman Chase Utley told MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki.

Since Sandberg has taken over the Phillies have gone 18-17.
