The Atlanta Braves have promoted catching prospect Christian Bethancourt to the major league roster.
Bethancourt, 22, spent the 2013 season with Double-A Mississippi and could be the Braves Opening Day catcher as early as next season if Brian McCann is not re-signed.
With Double-A Mississippi, Bethancourt hit .277/.305/.436 with 12 homers and 45 RBI in 90 games. He is likely to receive limited playing time this month.
