Francisco Liriano broke his arm falling in the bathroom

Two days ago Francisco Liriano agreed to an amended deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates worth $12.75 million over the next two-years. The Pirates had some concerns about Liriano’s non-throwing shoulder.

Those concerns were raised after Liriano fractured the humerus in his right arm after a fall in his bathroom. Exactly how Liriano fell is unclear at this time.

This is not the first freak injury of this offseason. Utility infielder Jeff Keppinger broke his leg falling down the stairs in November.

Last season Liriano compiled a 5.37 ERA and a 1.147 WHIP in 156 2/3 innings for the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox. He will occupy a rotation spot for the Pirates next season.
