Skip Schumaker has been acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers made a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals which will reunite the veteran utility player with hitting coach Mark McGwire.
The Dodgers are likely to use Schumaker as a left handed hitting option off the bench. He would serve as the teams fourth outfielder as well as a backup at second base.
Schumaker is a .288 lifetime hitter over eight seasons, all in St. Louis. He will earn $1.5 million during the 2013 season.
Minor leaguer Jake Lemmerman will go to St. Louis to complete the trade.
