William Byron goes back-to-back at Daytona, Daytona 500 Results

The 67th Daytona 500 saw President Donald Trump visit and take laps around the track in The Beast but it was the rain that followed shortly after that pushed the race into the evening hours.

Chase Briscoe began the race on the pole with last year’s  winner William Byron holding the lead at the time of a red flag for rain. Track drying efforts began but when the race resumed it did so only briefly before another delay came. That delay would be much shorter as racing resumed with lights on and dark skies. The first stage ended under caution after Denny Hamlin got into Zane Smith while also collecting Josh Berry. Joey Logano would lead the field onto pit road.

Logano would have an engine issue on the start of the second stage resulting in a crash to the back of the pack. His team would get his car straightened out while Penske Racing teammate Ryan Blaney took the stage. Logano’s day would go away with 15 to go after contact with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. which also collected Blaney, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott and others.

With five to go the car of Christopher Bell was sent into the wall setting off another crash that saw the No. 60 of Ryan Preece get airborne while also collecting Brad Keselowski and others.

With two to go Hamlin would lead them to green looking for his fourth Daytona 500 win. Unfortunately for Hamlin, Austin Cindric, and Cole Custer they would all be collected on the back stretch as William Byron made his way though enroute to collecting the checkered flag.
