The Rays have signed Steve Pearce to a one-year contract for the 2016 season.
Pearce, 32, had been seeking a multi-year deal as a free agent but could find no suitors. Instead he signs on with the Rays – a team which should use his versatility. Last year he saw time at first base and both corner outfield spots.
After a strong 2014 season, Pearce struggled last year hitting just .218/.289/.422 with the Orioles in 2015.
