In 2013 the NFL operated with a salary cap of $123 million, so the increase for 2014 is significant. It will not stop there. The NFL could add another $17 million in space over the next two seasons leaving the cap at $150 million for 2015.
Salary cap projected to rise to about $133 million this year, expected to break $140 million next year and $150 million by 2016, per source

NFL teams have been burdened with dead money and dealing with cap space in recent seasons which have left free agents having to settle for smaller deals amist reports of collusion.
Sooner or later the NFL will actually inform everyone of the salary cap and we can stop hearing these reports for 2014.
