The Tampa Bay Rays and free agent pitcher Erik Bedard have come to terms on a minor league deal. Thus far no opt out dates have been reported.
Bedard, 34, spent last season pitching for the Houston Astros. In Tampa Bay he will provide depth.
Last season Bedard made 26 of his 32 appearances as a starter finishing the season with a 4.59 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP. Bedard racked up 138 strike outs in 151 innings.
A ten year veteran, Bedard has appeared in the majors for Baltimore, Seattle, Boston and Pittsburgh in addition to Houston.
