If an NFL team wants to sign Bill O’Brien away from Penn State it will come at a lower price this offseason. Thus far there are no reports of any team talking to O’Brien but the Nitany Lions coaches name has been mentioned in conjunction with teams seeking a chance.
As reported by ESPN:
O’Brien changed the formula for his buyout and reduced the price of an NFL buyout from $19.33 million last year to $6.48 million for this year, per the contract, whereas the buyout another school would have to pay Penn State for O’Brien is $11.08 million.
There is also reports that O’Brien is attempting to further lower the buyout. Last season O’Brien was considered by Philadelphia and Arizona but neither team made an offer.
