The New York Yankees and second baseman Robinson Cano are working towards a new contract.
Cano and the Yankees met on Tuesday and are scheduled to meet again on Wednesday. The two sides are said to be quite a bit apart on the terms of a new deal but the two sides are atleast communicating with one another at this point.
The Yankees are said to have offered Cano a seven year deal worth $160 million while the 31-year-old infielder was said to be seeking a ten-year deal worth $310 million.
Cano’s reps met w/ Yankees this afternoon. Person involved said there’s still big gap in $$. But expect to meet tomorrow to continue talks.

Thus far no other teams have been linked to Cano as closely as the Yankees and it may only be a matter of time before the two sides reach a final agreement on a new deal.
