AJ Allmendinger claimed what many would describe as a surprise pole at the NASCAR Cup Series heads under the lights for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
A flurry of playoff drivers follow Allmendinger on the grid with Ryan Blaney joining him on the front row. Austin Cindric, Ty Gibbs, Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, William Byron, Bubba Wallace, Christopher Bell and Josh Berry wind out the top ten.
Coverage of the night race airs on USA beginning at 7:30 pm ET.
