Corey Heim powered to victory Friday night at Richmond Raceway, outdueling Ty Majeski in the closing laps to secure a hard-fought win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular-season finale.
Heim, who started from the pole in the No. 11 Toyota, claimed the lead for the final time with 20 laps to go and held off Majeski by 1.021 seconds at the checkered flag. The triumph marked another strong performance for the 23-year-old, who led 55 laps in total.
Majeski dominated much of the 250-lap event, pacing the field for a race-high 143 circuits and sweeping both Stage 1 and Stage 2. But despite his strength, a late-race shuffle allowed Heim to capitalize and seal the win.
The race featured 13 lead changes among four drivers and was slowed by five cautions for 48 laps. Strategy and pit cycles played a crucial role throughout, with Heim, Majeski, Sammy Smith, and Layne Riggs all spending time at the front.
Smith led 24 laps in the No. 7 Chevrolet before slipping back in the final run, while Riggs rallied to a strong third-place finish.
One of the night’s biggest storylines came from Jake Garcia, who crossed the line in seventh. That finish secured him the 10th and final playoff berth on points, locking the 20-year-old into the championship chase despite a challenging race that included pit road setbacks.
The pivotal moment unfolded with 50 laps to go when Majeski and veteran Matt Crafton made contact in Turn 4, bringing out a caution that reshuffled the field. Heim and Riggs pitted shortly after, setting up a sprint to the finish where Heim ultimately prevailed.
In total, Heim, Majeski, Smith, and Riggs combined to lead 241 of the 250 laps, showcasing the strength of the frontrunners.
With the regular season complete, the Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs are now set. Garcia joins Heim, Majeski, and the rest of the postseason field in the battle for the 2025 championship, beginning next weekend.
