The 2025 NASCAR All-Star Race returns to the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway from May 16–18, marking another chapter in the track’s remarkable revival. Located in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, this 0.625-mile oval first opened in 1947 and was a staple of NASCAR’s early years, hosting Cup Series races until its closure in 1996. After decades of dormancy, the speedway was revitalized through efforts led by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Speedway Motorsports, culminating in its triumphant return to the NASCAR calendar in 2023. The venue now boasts modern amenities while preserving its vintage charm, including a recent repaving that maintained the original 13 degrees of banking in the corners.
This year’s All-Star Race weekend promises thrilling action and fan engagement. The main event on Sunday, May 18, features a 200-lap race with competition breaks at laps 100 and 150, during which teams must execute four-tire pit stops. The All-Star Open, held earlier that day, offers drivers not already qualified a chance to race their way into the main event; the top two finishers and the Fan Vote winner will advance. The weekend also includes the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the Craftsman Truck Series race, providing fans with a full slate of racing excitement.
