The National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) is once again joining forces with Joey Gase Motorsports and Scott Osteen for a third consecutive year to promote fire safety awareness across the United States.
Starting this week, NFPA will collaborate with the Gase/Osteen team throughout the year in support of Fire Prevention Week™, which will take place from October 5-11, 2025. The campaign will kick off at the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) event at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday, March 8, at 3:00 p.m. Joey Gase will be racing in car #53, and Sparky the Fire Dog®, NFPA’s official mascot, will be on-site to engage with race fans and promote fire safety awareness.
Ongoing Commitment to Fire Safety
“Our collaboration with Joey Gase has provided a valuable opportunity for raising fire safety awareness among NASCAR fans and communities across the U.S.,” said Lorraine Carli, vice president of Outreach and Advocacy at NFPA. “We’re excited to expand these efforts in 2025 to share potentially life-saving messages as we approach Fire Prevention Week, the largest NFPA public awareness campaign of the year.”
In addition to the Phoenix event, NFPA and Gase will collaborate at other NASCAR NXS races, including:
- Atlanta Motor Speedway
- Daytona International Speedway
- Bristol Motor Speedway
- Kansas Speedway
- Charlotte Motor Speedway
Further details on these events and related activities will be shared in the coming months.
The Urgent Need for Fire Safety Education
The continued prevalence of home fires across the U.S. highlights the critical importance of fire prevention education. According to the latest NFPA data, in 2023, there were an estimated 332,000 home structure fires, leading to 2,890 civilian deaths, 10,190 injuries, and $11 billion in direct property damage. While home structure fires decreased by nearly 8 percent from 2022 to 2023, civilian deaths and injuries increased by nearly 7 percent and 3 percent, respectively. These statistics underscore the ongoing need for public education on fire safety.
“I’m thrilled to be teaming up with NFPA again to remind people that home fires can and do still happen on a daily basis, often with devastating impacts,” said Joey Gase, owner and driver for Joey Gase Motorsports. “It’s important to be proactive around home fire safety to save lives and reduce loss, and I hope that our collaboration will continue to motivate people throughout the country to take action and be prepared.”
Fire Prevention Week: A Longstanding Tradition
Fire Prevention Week, celebrated every October, is the oldest U.S. public health observance on record. For more than a century, it has aimed to educate people about home fire risks and how to minimize them. Local fire departments, schools, and community organizations play a vital role in bringing Fire Prevention Week to life in their communities, spreading critical fire safety messages to help save lives.
With the continued partnership between NFPA and Joey Gase Motorsports, fans and communities nationwide will have an engaging and impactful platform to learn more about fire prevention and safety in 2025.
