Motorsports Business Management (MBM Motorsports) is set to make its mark at the 67th annual Daytona 500 with veteran NASCAR driver Mike Wallace piloting the No. 66 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Wallace, a seasoned competitor with over 800 starts across NASCAR’s top three divisions, brings a wealth of experience and an impressive track record to this year’s Great American Race.
Wallace’s Storied Career
The 65-year-old Missouri native has notched nine NASCAR national series wins, including victories in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and ARCA Menards Series at Daytona International Speedway. Wallace has also triumphed at Talladega Superspeedway, further solidifying his reputation as a master of superspeedway racing.
“I am very excited to be teamed up with Carl Long and the complete MBM Motorsports team, along with Doug Yates’ support, for a return trip to the Daytona 500 after being away for a few years,” Wallace shared. “Daytona holds a special place in my heart. Winning the inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race here and my other victories at this iconic track are among the highlights of my career.”
Wallace’s return to Daytona marks a significant milestone as he steps back into the spotlight following a challenging 2024, during which he mourned the loss of his wife, Carla. “2024 was a devastating year for me, but 2025 brings fresh excitement, starting with this Daytona 500 announcement. They say you have to be in it to win it, and we are rolling into Daytona with the chance to race and win the Daytona 500!”
Carl Long’s Vision for MBM Motorsports
MBM Motorsports, led by Carl Long and co-owners Rocky and Tom Smith, as well as John Jackson, has been diligently preparing for the Daytona 500. The team has rebuilt its superspeedway car and secured a contract with Yates Engines to ensure a competitive edge.
“When we completed Martinsville at the end of 2024, we began tearing the car down and rebuilding it for Daytona. In November, we committed to the Yates engine program without knowing how it would all come together,” Long explained. Wallace’s call to Long sealed the deal, bringing a proven superspeedway specialist into the fold.
“I’ve watched Mike succeed at superspeedways for years,” Long said. “Daytona requires immense mental skill, and Mike’s expertise in plate racing makes him the ideal choice to help us race our way into the Daytona 500.”
The Road to the Great American Race
Long-time partner Coble Enterprises has already pledged support as an associate sponsor for the No. 66 team. However, MBM Motorsports is actively seeking a primary marketing partner to join their efforts.
The action begins on Wednesday, February 12, with practice and single-car qualifying. The Daytona 500 Duels on Thursday, February 13, will determine the final starting lineup. The main event, the 67th Daytona 500, is scheduled for 2:30 pm ET on Sunday, February 16.
MBM Motorsports and Mike Wallace aim to not only participate but also contend for victory in NASCAR’s most prestigious event. Fans and sponsors alike are encouraged to join the team’s journey to Daytona by reaching out via info@mbmmotorsports.com.
