Jalen Hurts out with concussion

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts exited Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders after sustaining a concussion in the first quarter. The injury occurred following a 13-yard run, during which Hurts took a hit to the head. He initially attempted to remain in the game but was directed to the sideline for evaluation. After being assessed in the medical tent, Hurts was escorted to the locker room and subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Prior to his departure, Hurts completed 1 of 4 passes for 11 yards and rushed three times for 41 yards. Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett took over, leading the Eagles to a touchdown with a 4-yard pass to A.J. Brown, extending their lead to 14-0. However, Pickett also threw an interception on the following drive.

Hurts has been instrumental in the Eagles’ success this season, contributing to their 12-2 record and positioning them for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. His season statistics include 2,892 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and 589 rushing yards with 14 rushing touchdowns.
The Eagles are set to face the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants in their final regular-season games, both crucial matchups for securing a first-round bye in the playoffs. Hurts’ availability for these games remains uncertain, pending his recovery from the concussion.
