Michael McDowell scored the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
McDowell’s time of 30.927 bested Ryan Blaney with teammate Todd Gilliland starting third along side Josh Berry. Austin Cindric rounded out the top-five qualifiers which all fall under the Ford Racing tree.
The first non-Ford starter is Kyle Larson in sixth while Ty Gibbs is the first Toyota in 20th.
This weekend marks the first of three races in the opening round of the Cup Series playoffs. Coverage of the Quaker State 400 available at Wal-Mart begins at 3:00 pm ET on USA and the NBC Sports App.
