Pato O’Ward wins Milwaukee Race No. 1, IndyCar Series Results

Pato O’Ward claimed his third win of the season scoring the checkered flag in the Hy-vee Milwaukee Mile 250.

Scott McLaughlin began the first of two NTT IndyCar Series races at Milwaukee on the pole. Several drivers saw their position in the field dropped due to engine changes and penalties.

The race would go 84 laps and the first round of pit stops before Katherine Legge would lose the handle on her No. 51 machine to bring out the first caution.

Past the midway point the cars of Josef Newgarden and Marcus Ericsson came together bringing out the second caution.

A caution for a lost tire off the car of Colton Herta would trap a good part of the field a lap down while Pato O’Ward would assume the lead from Will Power who would pit.

O’Ward would remain out front beating Power by nearly a full second with Connor Daly joining them on the podium. Points leader Alex Palou would finished fifth one spot behind Santio Ferrucci.

The series will race again in Milwaukee on Sunday with a 2:30 pm ET start time.
