Cole Custer won Saturday’s Explore the Pocono Mountains 225 at Pocono Raceway.
Sheldon Creed began the Xfinity Series race on the pole.
With 21 laps to go a caution came out for Stephen Mallozzi’s car as it came to a stop on the track. Leader Justin Allgaier would stay out while most of those behind him pitted.
On the restart Jeremy Clements would go around to bring out another yellow as Cole Custer on newer tires and enough fuel to make it to the end moved up to second.
With nine laps to go Custer would get around Allgaier for the lead. A lap later Shane Van Gisbergen went around off the nose of Sam Mayer.
On the restart Custer would hold off Allgaier and William Byron to earn the win. The win is Custer and Fords first of the season.
