The Jacksonville Jaguars and quarterback Trevor Lawrence are in agreement on a contract extension worth $275 million over five years.
Within the deal $200 million is guaranteed. Lawrence’s deal matches that of Joe Burrow for the highest paid quarterback in the league.
Numerous quarterbacks have seen their salaries rise north of $50 million. In addition to Burrow and Lawrence, Jared Goff, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts all make more than $50 million a season.
The Jaguars drafted Lawrence with the first overall pick of the 2021 NFL draft. A year later he would lead the team to a playoff win over the Chargers – after a 27 point deficit – while earning a Pro Bowl selection.
Last season the Jaguars struggled as the playoffs approached missing post season play.
