Sam Mayer on Xfinity Series pole at Charlotte Roval, Drive for the Cure 250 starting lineup

Sam Mayer will start from the pole in Saturday’s Drive for the Cure 250 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval.

With a lap of 82.045 around the 2.28-mile track, Mayer put his No. 1 Chevrolet on the front row for the Xfinity Series race. He will be joined by JR Motorsports teammate Justin Allgaier.

The Roval is the final race in the opening Round of 12 for the Xfinity Series. With wins at Bristol and Texas, Allgaier and John Hunter Nemehcek are already though into the Round of 8.

Entering Saturday’s race Cole Custer (+63), Austin Hill (+44), Chandler Smith (+32), Sammy Smith (+18) all are in good position to advance though to the next round. The final two spots are a lot closer with Sheldon Creed (+9) and Daniel Hemric (+1) hoping to hold off Parker Kligerman (-1), Jeb Burton (-19), Josh Berry (-27) and Sam Mayer (-34). It is worth nothing that a win automatically advances a driver into the next round.

Coverage of the Xfinity Series race on Saturday will air on NBC and Peacock beginning at 3:30 pm ET.
