Ryan Blaney went to victory lane in the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway after finishing 0.012 seconds ahead of second place Kevin Harvick.

With the win Harvick joins William Byron in winning events in the Round of 12 of NASCAR’s Playoffs ensuring they will be a part of the Round of 8.
Aric Almirola began the day on the pole as 38 drivers prepared for 188 laps around the 2.66-mile superspeedway.
Caution would come out on the final lap of the first stage with Ryan Blaney in the lead as Ross Chastain and Kyle Busch got into each other sending the No. 1 into the wall with damage. The incident began when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ran out of fuel.
The second stage would end with Brad Keselowski out front. Several cars would crash on lap 162 after Carson Hocevar got sideways after being pushed by Keselowski. Austin Dillon, Ty Gibbs, Harrison Burton, Chase Briscoe and Chris Buescher would also take damage from the incident. The red flag came out on lap 164 as NASCAR would need to make repairs to the wall.
Aided by a push from Riley Herbst and then William Byron, Blaney was able to score his third win at Talladega and the ninth of his career.
The final race of the Round of 12 will take place next week on the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. After that race four drivers will be eliminated from championship contention.
