Aric Almirola scored the pole for the YellaWood 500 during Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session at Talladega Superspeedway.
The NASCAR Cup Series will be running it’s second of three Round of 12 races at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. Almirola and fellow front row starter Joey Logano are not eligible for the end of season championship. The highest starter of the remaining playoff drivers is fourth place Kyle Larson.
A week ago William Byron ensured he would move onto the Round of 8 with a win at Texas Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 24 car will start eighth in Sunday’s race.
