Will Power fastest in first IndyCar practice at Nashville, full list of speeds

Will Power was the fastest in Friday’s opening practice session for the NTT IndyCar race weekend for the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix.

Unfortunately for Power he made contact with a wall at the end of the session. In a post race interview Power denied that his hand was bothering him too much.

Linus Lundqvist, last year’s Indy NXT champion, was 11th fastest filling in for Simon Pagenaud in the No. 60 car. Nashville will mark Lundqvist’s IndyCar debut.

Points leader Alex Palou was second fastest in the session. Last year’s winner Scott Dixon was 10th fastest while his teammate Marcus Ericsson, the 2021 winner, was 25th fastest.

All 27 drivers took to the track during the 75 minute session.

The IndyCar race at Nashville will air on NBC and Peacock on Sunday at noon. Drivers will run 80 laps for a total of 168 miles around the track.
