Denny Hamlin wins 50th career race, Pocono Raceway Results

Denny Hamlin scored his seventh victory at Pocono Raceway winning the HighPoint.com 400.

William Byron would lead the field to the green flag. It would only be six laps before JJ Yeley would go around to bring out the first caution of the race. Corey LaJoie would make contact with the wall on lap 12 and would bring his car onto pit road due to a tire going down. The race remained green.

Joey Logan would win the first stage. Byron and others would opt to stay out and move up to the front of the field. On the restart Logano would get spun collecting Daniel Suarez in the process. When the race went green, BJ McLeod would get loose and make contact with Austin Dillon on the restart once again bringing out the caution. The next restart would see more action as Kyle Larson wrecked in turn one following contact from Christopher Bell.  Larson would work his way back to the lead but Bell would bring out the next caution on lap 92 when he spun.

Larson would win the stage and pit. On the lap 100 restart Byron would lead the field but Ryan Blaney would pass him. Unfortunately for Blaney his time out front was short as his car developed a power issue dropping him though the field as Martin Truex Jr. went to the front.

On lap 106 Dillon would wreck after making contact with Tyler Reddick. Dillon would toss his helmet at Reddick’s car in frustration. Truex would lead the field on the restart with Alex Bowman opting to pit eight laps later. Byron, Larson, Chris Buescher and others would follow. A lap later Truex, Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain and just about everyone else would follow.

Larson would be the leader after pitstops cycled though. On lap 143 contact from Ty Dillon would send Chase Briscoe into the wall bringing out a caution. Larson would lead the field to green with 13 laps to go with Truex chasing after. Bowman would go around with 12 to go.

Hamlin would give Larson a push on the restart and claim the lead exiting turn one. Unfortunately for Justin Haley his race would end after a crash in the tunnel turn. As they took the yellow Larson would let Hamlin know he was not happy with the previous restart pushing on the side of the No. 11 car.

With two laps to go Ryan Preece would spin. NASCAR waited to see if Preece could get going, however Hamlin would take the white flag. NASCAR was forced to throw a caution flag ending the race as fans began to boo.

The win is Hamlin’s second of the season and the 50th in his career. He has won multiple races each season dating back to 2019.
