Simon Sikes claimed the win in the first of two races on the streets of Toronto for the USF 2000 Series.
The race began on Cooper rain tires after rain began to fall on the track during the USF Pro 2000 race. Points leader Simon Sikes began the race on the pole after setting the fast time in qualifying. Evagoras Papasavvas joined him on the front row.
With five laps to go a crash involving Jorge Garciarce brought out the yellow. It would set up a two lap shootout for the race. Sikes would hold his spot at the lead but Max Garcia would work his around Mac Clark for second. Clark found himself falling to fifth before getting back up to fourth.
The will will further extend Sikes lead at the top of the standings with his closest championship contender in Nikita Johnson finishing seventh.
The USF 2000 Series will race again on Sunday at 8:10 am. That race will air on YouTube.
