Cole Custer won NASCAR’s first event on a street track, being given the win in The Loop 121 race in Chicago following rain.
Custer led the entire race prior to the race being halted on Saturday afternoon due to lightning. NASCAR planned to resume the race Sunday morning however lightning and rain continued to be an issue.
Just after 1:40 pm ET (12:40 pm CT) the decision to end the race two laps prior to the halfway point was made. Efforts will now continue as NASCAR tries to fit in the Cup Series race on the streets.
Despite the race not going the full distance, NASCAR is awarding full points as well as points for stage 2 despite it not being completed.
