Window net penalty for Young’s Motorsports teams upheld

An appeals panel has upheld the penalties to Young’s Motorsports due to illegal window nets.

Young’s Motorsports saw the loss of 25 driver and owner points as well as $5,000 fines to its crew chiefs after the No. 02 and No. 20 Craftsman Truck Series entries were ruled to have out-of-spec window nets.

The panel concluded that “NASCAR showed the window net labels were visually and significantly different from the OEM new labels.”

NASCAR requires that all safety equipment have a shelf life to ensure its durability in the event of an on track accident.

The penalties to drivers Chris Hacker and Nick Leitz as well as crew chiefs Brad Means and Joe Laz will remain in place.
