Alex Bowman driving throwback of spotter Kevin Hamlin

Alex Bowman surprised spotter Kevin Hamlin with his paint scheme for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway.

Hamlin was surprised to see that the car Bowman will drive during NASCAR’s throwback weekend is of his 2007 NASCAR Xfinity Series ride.

“To me, that paint scheme was a time when I took a leap of faith and bet on myself to follow my dream so to have Alex want to get it back on track is very special to me,” Hamlin said.

Hamlin raced in parts of six seasons in the Xfinity Series competing in 43 races scoring two top-ten finishes. Hamlin attempted to qualify for a Cup Series race in 2009. Since that time he has served as a spotter in NASCAR’s top three series working with Clint Bowyer, Ty Dillon, Brendan Gaughan, Kasey Kahne, and now Bowman.
