When the time is right, 23XI Racing is interested in expansion of its two car operation in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Appearing on SiriusXM Radio Steve Lauletta, president of the organization, said that expansion is part of their long term plans.
After starting as a single car team in 2021 with Bubba Wallace, the team expanded last season to include a second car with Kurt Busch as the driver. This year Travis Pastrana drove a third entry for the organization in the season opening Daytona 500.
💭 “It may not be 2024, it might be 2025 or beyond. But it’s definitely part of what the plans for @23XIRacing are.” #NASCAR@slauletta says expansion is in 23XI’s future, but charters are the key to building bigger and better for them and @ToyotaRacing 📈 pic.twitter.com/WJuf4XZoij

Lauletta said there were many things that would go into a decision to expand but noted adding the right driver, crew chief, sponsors, and a charter as part of the puzzle. When asked by host Dave Moody about a charter Lauletta said it “doesn’t make sense in so many ways” to add a third car without a charter.
