Bill Lester to run Truck race at Atlanta

Bill Lester is planning to make a return to the NASCASR circuit.

Appearing on Race Hub on Friday, Lester announced his intentions to return to the Camping World Truck Series for the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 20.

Lester said he had gotten some support from Atlanta area Ford dealers, Tony’s Express car wash while on Race Hub but asked for someone to join as a sponsor on the hood. That was met later Friday evening by a tweet from Camping World owner Marcus Lemonis who said “I’m in” on Twitter.

Lester, 50, spent eight seasons in the truck series from 2000-2007 where he scored three poles, two top-five, and seven top-10 finishes.

In 2006 Lester made two starts in the NASCAR Cup Series. Lester became the first black driver to score a Rolex Series GT victory in 2011 when he teamed with Jordan Taylor to win their class at the Bosch Engineering 250 at Virginia International Raceway.
