Joey Logano won the first race in the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Sunday’s running of the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway saw Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin win the first two stages but several drivers saw time at the front of the field making the restart for the final stage full of intrigue.
With 86 lap to go Hamlin would have to put after hitting the wall and developing a flat rear tire under green losing multiple laps. Shortly after Hamlin’s issue Kurt Busch would find himself running at reduced power before losing a motor. Taking the wave around Hamlin would get one lap back.
A caution for Tyler Reddick getting into the wall would allow Hamlin to get back in the lead lap.
In the closing laps Logano led Kevin Harvick but their close racing allowed Alex Bowman to creep closer. In the end Logano would cross the line first ahead of Harvick and Bowman.
