Kyle Busch upset after running into Garrett Smithley in closing laps at Las Vegas

Kyle Busch won the regular season title in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. One race into the Playoffs and already Busch has already been reminded that one race can alter a season at this point.

After a tough night for much of the South Point 400 which included hitting the wall in stage one, Busch worked his way up to fourth in the closing stage before running into Garrett Smithley and damaginig his No. 18 Toyota Camry.

Busch fell to 19th to finish the race and was not happy when he was asked about the incident with Smithley. Aside from questioning how guys who had never won a late model race were able to compete in the MENCS, Busch quipped that his (insurance) premiums were going to go up.

Comments posted to his offical website also displayed disapointment with the 19th place run.

“It was just a long night for us. Battled back to get back on the lead lap, probably was going to be able to finish in the top-five, and we ran into a lapped car and ruined our night. Once we got our damage fixed our M&M’S Hazelnut Spread Camry was fast, but we didn’t have anything to show for it at the end.”

Up next for the MENCS is the Federated Auto 400 at Richmond Raceway.
