Paul Menard has 2020 contract

On Friday at Kentucky Speedway, veteran Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Paul Menard told reporters he had a contact for the 2020 season.

Menard, 38, indicated plans to return to the No. 21 Ford of Wood Brothers Racing for a third season.

“I have a good job, for sure,” Menard said after final Monster Energy Series practice at Kentucky Speedway. “I love the Wood Brothers. I love my race team. They are good people. I have a contract for next year. I guess it is getting to be that time of year when people start talking about things. I have a contract and I love my team. We just have to perform better, that is all.”

Menard has a best finish of sixth this season at Bristol. Competing in his 13th full season in the MENCS, Menard is currently 20th in the point standings.

“It is certainly not where we want to be,” said Menard about being on the outside of the playoff picture.
