Greg Biffle wins in NASCAR return in Truck Series Texas race

Greg Biffle returned to the Gander Outdoors Truck Series for the first time since 2004 on Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway. The former series champion began the race sixth.

Biffle last raced in NASCAR in 2016 in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Earlier this year Kyle Busch spoke to Biffle about an open date for the No. 51 Toyota Tundra at Texas.

While accidents happened around the track in the first 60 laps of the race, Biffle was able to keep his truck clean and race inside the top five before falling back to the middle of the pack midway though the second stage. Biffle moved up to second early in the third stage when Tyler Dippel and Sheldon Creed got into one another.

On lap 105 Biffle assumed the lead marking his first lap led in the series since 2001. Pit stops and strategy saw Biffle fall to the middle of the pack before a late caution allowed him to move back to the front of the field in a attempt to save fuel and pull off a win. Matt Crafton would make a push to get around Biffle but the No. 51 truck had enough fuel to take the checkered flag.

Biffle also won $50,000 in the first race of the Triple Truck Challenge. With the next two races also being worth $50,000 for a win questions surely will rise about his status going forward.
