Tim Tebow has broken hand, will require surgery

Any thoughts that Tim Tebow could make his major league debut with the Mets in September are gone.

Tebow broke the hamte bone in his right hand while swinging this weekend and will undergo surgery Tuesday.

The Mets season has been in peril for weeks. A rash of wild injuries including heel issues to Yoenis Cespedes and the recent hand, foot and mouth disease to Noah Syndergaard has left a team who came out of the gate strong already trading away players as the trade deadline approaches.

Overall Tebow fared better than many would have expected at Double-A. He will end the year with a .273/.336/.399 line to go with six homers and 36 RBI.
