Paul Menard scored his second career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series pole at Chicagoland. The No. 21 Ford Fusion of Menard will lead a field to the green flag today at the 1.5-mile Joliet based track. The pole came almost ten years after his first back in 2008 at Daytona.
Coverage of today’s Cup race airs on NBC at 2:30 pm ET with the much anticipated debut of Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the announcers booth. The green flag is expected to wave at 2:32 pm ET.
The qualifying times of Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hampi, Jimmie Johnson and Chris Buescher were disallowed forcing all four to the back of the field for the start of the Overtons 400.
