Ryan Weber inks minor league deal with Rays

Ryan Weber has signed a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays in hopes of returning to the majors.

Weber, 27, has seen big league time with the Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners but has struggled to stick at the big league level.

Last season Weber made one start for the Mariners, going 3 2/3 innings while allowing a run before being optioned to Triple-A Tacoma for the rest of the year. He had solid numbers in the PCL with the Rainers compiling a 0.85 ERA in 31 2/3 innings.

The Rays will take a chance on Weber in spring training. While he could see big league time this season, it’s just as likely he spends the majority of the year with Triple-A Durham.
