Ron Gardenhire among finalist for Red Sox managerial job

The Red Sox fired John Farrell after losing Game 4 of the ALDS to the Astros and began a search for his replacement.

According to Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, one of the finalist to be the new Red Sox manager is Ron Gardenhire.

Gardenhire spent the 2017 season as the bench coach of the Diamondbacks. He spent 13 seasons as the manager of the Twins from 2012 until 2014. Another name being linked to the position include former Tigers manager Brad Ausmus. Ausmus was hired by Red Sox general manager Dave Dombrowski while he was in the general manager in Detroit. Astros bench coach Alex Cora, Chili Davis, Brian Butterfield and Jason Varitek have also been linked to the position.
