Tom Coughlin expected to resign Monday, on hot seat with Giants

The seat of Giants head coach Tom Coughlin is as hot as any in the NFL.

Coughlin, 69, has had his job questioned multiple times while with the Giants but two Super Bowl wins have come from him. In recent years the Giants roster has been void of talent, still the Giants have expected a lot from the coach.

With his job on the line following a 6-9 season the oldest coach in the league may be ready to walk away for good reports Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports.

“This is a different Tom Coughlin, and I think he’s ready to move away,” Garafolo said. “A lot of people are talking as if it’s an inevitability that on Monday he is going to resign. I am hearing that from a lot of people.”

The Giants may allow Coughling to resign or use the “mutually part ways” term but when expectations far outpace results this is the road that is traveled.

Leading up to Sunday’s game against the Eagles, Coughlin sports a 102-89 record with the Giants winning Super Bowls in 2007 and 2011. Of course outside of those Super Bowl wins the Giants have largely been a .500 team in his other 10 years with the club – that appears to be his big undoing.
