Jeff Francis has retired from baseball after 11 seasons at the big league level.
Francis, 34, is best remembered for his time as a member of the Rockies as the end of his career saw him bounce around.
“It’s a special place,” said Francis about his time in Colorado. “I spent the bulk of my time there. It was at times an up-and-down career, but to have the time in Denver playing in the World Series, and playing for a team that grew up together, that’s pretty satisfying.”
Francis retires with a 72-82 record and a 4.97 career ERA. Much of his career was spent in hitter friendly Coors Field.
“What I was able to do, what Aaron Cook did, what Jorge De La Rosa is doing and what Jason Jennings did before us, it’s hard to do. Not many have done it more than two years in a row, including me. I don’t know if there is an answer.”
