The Chicago White Sox are ready to make a move at second base replacing slumping Micah Johnson with Carlos Sanchez.

On Thursday the White Sox optioned the rookie Johnson to the minors clearing the way for the 22-year-0ld Sanchez to take over at second.

Sanchez was hitting .344/.368/.466 with two home runs and 17 RBI at the Triple-A level this season. It is unclear if Sanchez will see all of the playing time at second or share the position with Emilio Bonifacio.

Though 27 games Johnson was hitting .270/.333/.297 while also finding trouble in the field committing three errors and numerous other misplays on a defense which ranks near the bottom in the American League.
