Ben Zobrist has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Oakland Athletics as he is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
Zobrist, 33, had been attempting to play though the injury but has now decided surgery is the best option. During his absence the Athletics will give the majority of the time at second base to Eric Sogard.
Though 14 games the versatile Zobrist was hitting .240/.304/.400 with one home run and eight RBI.
