It has been one of the oddest sights for a year, cars backing out of their pit stalls to take qualifying laps.
Beginning at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA it will be no more.
NASCAR has changed the direction that cars face on pit road to start qualifying. No longer will drivers have to back up in order to begin their movement down pit road. Now NASCAR will have teams place their cars with the rear end facing the pit road.
This comes at the request of drivers in an attempt to avoid pit road collisions.
